The map above speaks for itself, but to give it some context, here are a few more facts:
China remains the world's leading gold producer, even though it sustained a -5,2% decrease in production between 2018 and 2019.
On the other hand, with an 11,5% increase, Russia, went from third to second place between 2018 and 2019.
Apart from Australia (+2,6%) and Brazil (+10,6%), all other countries have seen a decrease in their production between 2018 and 2019.
While the -3,2% gold production decrease in Canada between 2018 and 2019 hasn't changed much for the country's position in this ranking, with a -41,6% decrease, Indonesia moved from seventh to twelfth place and out of the ranking entirely.
As for 2020, although we'll stay clear from predictions, we can already say the current global situation will most certainly have significant implications for gold production throughout the year.
