Our collection of Monnaie de Paris Gold Coins

Our collection of Monnaie de Paris gold coins includes the 20, 50, and 100 Napoleon gold coins which are all made up of pure gold (90%).

The 20 Napoleon gold coin weighs 5.81 grams and features Marianne, who is considered the symbol of the French Republic. Her image represents freedom and reason. The reverse side depicts the beautiful French rooster of 20 francs, also considered France's unofficial symbol.

The 50 Franc gold coin was the first to be produced in the Second Empire ruled by Napoleon III in 1854. The coin weighs 14.51 grams with a diameter of 28 mm. On the front side, it features Emperor Napoleon III, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte. This coin is the earlier “Bare Head” (Tête Nue) type. On the reverse, there is an eagle spread on a thunderbolt surrounded by the collar of the Legion of Honor.

The 100 Napoleon Franc gold coin was minted in a limited number of 96,950. The coin weighs 29.03 grams and is 35 mm in diameter.

This coin is the latter type compared to the 50 Franc coin. It’s known as “Laureate Head” (tête laurée) and was produced between 1861 to 1868. The obverse side depicts Napoleon looking to the left, and on the reverse, similar to the 50 Franc coin, an eagle is spread on a thunderbolt surrounded by the collar of the Legion of Honor.
